“A religious man is a person who holds God and man in one thought at one time, at all times, who suffers harm done to others, whose greatest passion is compassion, whose greatest strength is love and defiance of despair.”

i am glad to have been able to share knowledge that was in turn imparted to me. we are all just seekers on a journey.

  • I cannot commend you enough for your knowledge, Peter. This is the kind of discussion that I had always hoped to spark with these articles. The real meanings of religion and ideas down to the core of what matters most.

you are right, it was a quotation from paraphrase from Jesus, but i dont like using that translation because people abuse the name so much. Joshua is actually a closer translation anyway. the Hebrew name of Jesus was Y'shua, which is the same name in English as Joshua. however, Y'shua gets translated into Greek as Iesus and then into English as Jesus.

so Jesus goes through two translations and Joshua only one.

  • I had thought that a biblical paraphrase. Kudos on actually knowing what was most likely the real name of Jesus the Christ.
  • sure, but i must give credit to whom it is due, this comes from a guy named Joshua BenJoseph.

    peter
  • Very nice, Peter. Mind if I use that as a Developmental Theology piece sometime?
  • great quote...

there once was a man who asked this question "what is the greatest commandment?"

the response was this, Love God and humans, for this sums up everything.
