I am nothing now,

For the first time on Loki Listens, I’m going to publish a poem I am actually sort of proud of. Hopefully someone will enjoy it as much as I do.

Drink in the night.
Can you feel this flavor?
The wine is deep red.
The love is crystal clear.
Drink with me.
This cup we share.
We are not this.
We never [...]

She fell asleep that night, in my arms.
I can’t remember the last thing
that she said to me.
When morning came,
I was alone.
So quickly, so suddenly,
it was all over.
I don’t remember arguments.
I don’t remember fights.
I thought we were pretty happy.
I’ll try not to think next time.

Ignore delusion.
Find the center.
Move up beyond
the silver halo.
Grab your darkness
And force through it.
Climb the Tree.
Meet the truly solitary.
Embrace your soul.

Don’t bother with this one. It’s poetry. Blah.
——-
Someone’s down the corner.
Sitting on the street.
He holds up a sign
that no one reads.
You ignore him.
I ignore you.
Pretty soon…
We’re all three on the corner.

Okay, there it is.

Meet my thunder!
Meet my rain!
I break the firmament
and cleanse this world.
I am Tlaloc,
Father of Rain.
I am Tlaloc,
I am every rain drop.
I am every lightning crash.
I am Tlaloc.
Meet my thunder!
Meet my rain!
-Loki.

Every now and then
I get it all together again
I’ve lost my way
Help me to stay
I can’t find my way
home….
I look back at the past
Nothing seems to last
All these dreams will fade
some day. I hope, I know.
I hope, I know.
Every now and then
It all falls apart again
I can’t relate,
I know my fate
Help me escape.
Hold me [...]

Broken glass litters
the city street.
I crawl out of the gutter
and wonder where I was last night.
I can see the quad-bridges from here.
The echo in the distance
calls out my name.
Jack, come home.
I am home.
This is my city.
These are my streets.
I walk across the bridge
and grab a bite to eat.
Hot coffee and cold eggs
can help just about [...]

I wrote this poem when I was in college, I think…
—–
black butterflies fluttered
through the night sky
i stood facing destiny
in the cold, dark wind
i reached and grabbed
one by its wings
the black powder-life
came off on my fingers
and left my little
insect kin flightless
he flopped, mindlessly,
across the wet pavement
i only wanted to embrace
his beauty, but instead
i have taken his [...]

Outside in the fog, I wander.
I’m feeling a little lost lately.
Something’s missing,
but nothing much has changed.
Across the planet,
she’s dreaming under a starlit sky.
Something’s missing,
but she’s sure nothing has changed.
