This is not to say that I stopped writing all together. I’ve made a lot of headway on my two big fiction projects, The Cost of Magic, and The Tribe of the Star. The Tribe of the Star has taken on a pleasant change of tone, which I think, and my girlfriend concurs, will be much more appealing to the reader. You’ll get to see the first of those pieces online here in the next couple of days.

I started out posting The Cost of Magic here at Loki Listens every time I added to it. I dropped that in favor of completing it and polishing it after 20 some-odd parts. It’s become a bit of an epic work for me, being the longest piece of fiction I have ever written. It’s still a long way from completion, but I have very high hopes for it. To be cliche, it’s a labor of love.

My computer’s hard drive crashed on me, I’m updating through the use of an Ubuntu LiveCD. I’m going to attempt to replace the drive as soon as I can, hopefully remedying the problem.

You feel like you’ve been comatose for most of your adult life. Or maybe you hope that you have been. Events swirl past you in vivid bubbles, caught in time. Am I? Was I? Clarity becomes confusion, confusion becomes pain.

You struggle to open a pack of cigarettes. After chain-smoking your way through four or five cigarettes, you reach for the bottles of pills. You choke down the last Vicodin with fruit juice that may have been sitting on the desk for 2 or 3 days. And you wait. You wait for beautiful numbness. You wait as the clarity dims, and the scorching depression bubbles down to lukewarm.

Monday Update

I took most of this week off in an effort to finish the final publishing details for Loki Listens Volume 1.  I think the effort went pretty well.    You can now purchase my first book for download directly to your Amazon Kindle!  I’ll have details on the print release soon.  It’s in the final approval process.  I’m also working on a release for mobile readers.  More details on that soon.  Also, please remember the book is available in eBook(PDF) format for free on the ‘Classroom’ tab at the top of this page!

In personal life, I’ve had some bad dental problems this week, but I believe they are now resolved.
